PMD: Rescue Team Vision 13-3: Impending Doom

Back in the square, the locals were waiting for us.

"Is Donnie coming back yet?"  Asked Lombre.  "He's been gone for a long time."

Caterpie, who was looking in the direction of the Kecleon Shop & Wares, grew excited.

"Here he comes!"  He exclaimed happily.

The others looked as they saw me, Rosie, Team Rose & Team ACT heading in their direction!

"It's true!"  Cooed Octillery.

This got the others' attention as they welcomed us with open arms!

"You did amazing!"  Shiftry cheered.

"You really took him down?!"  Exclaimed Golem.

"Fantastic, darlings!"  Cooed Octillery.  "Come over here!"

She then hugged me, her tentacles tickling my tummy as she also nuzzled me.  I playfully squirmed in her restraints to make it more fun for us.

"Wait- How does everyone know about this?!"  Asked Rosie.

"Pelipper told us in the latest issue in Pokemon News."  Said Caterpie.

"You became much stronger than when we 1st met!"  Shiftry smiled.

"Take pride in that!"  Said Golem.

"You did great!  I never thought an electric type like you'd be able to pull it off."  Blastoise smiled.  "It makes me more scared to battle you than I was.  Heh."

At that point, Octillery stopped tickling me so I could speak.

"You know, if you want, we can team up sometime!"  I said.

"Well that sounds fun!"  Said Blastoise.

"Oh, by the way, where's Gengar?"  I asked.

And as if on queue, he came to where we were & looked utterly shocked.

"UGEGEGEGEGEGEH?!"  He cried.  "Y-You actually survived?!"

"Well duh!  I told you I would!"  I said with a smug grin.

"HOW DID- Ugh..."  He said, walking off.

We all laughed as he did.

"Anyway..."  Alakazam began as we all looked at him.  "You earned everyone's respect.  You're now a 1st class rescue team.  Take pride in that."

Tears of joy were in our eyes as we looked at each other.

"Did...  You hear that, Donnie?!"  Rosie exclaimed.

"Everything we experienced...!"  I said, hugging Rosie, crying.  "IT WAS WORTH IT!!"

"Aww, look at those 2!"  Cooed Octillery.

"That's my little siblings for you!"  Said Sarah.  "Come here, you 2!"

And then, she joined in on the hug.  It was warmth that I haven't felt in years.  Being hugged not 1, but BOTH of my sisters!  But something was missing...  Mom.  It didn't occur to me at the time though.  But then, we heard something that stopped all of our celebration.  It also caused me, Rosie & Sarah to break our hug.

"...Did you hear that?"  I asked.

"I heard it too."  Said Sarah.

We heard it again.

"Wait...  Is it...  Xatu?!"  I exclaimed.

"Oh!  I get it now!"  Said Alakazam.  "Xatu's using telepathy to communicate!"

"Calling all Pokemon!"  Said Xatu.  "Terrible, it is!  From the sky falls a meteor!  From the sky!  Comes a meteor!  It's a really big one!  The meteor it falls!  It falls straight to us!"

We looked up.  And we saw something that made our blood run cold: a meteor that was unlike anything we'd ever seen!  It was huge & burning & coming down at us at a high speed!  Wait...  Was this what Xatu meant by 'the unthinkable'?  Did he know this would happen?  That didn't seem possible, but what others explanation was there?

"Disasters in nature...  There were many..."  Xatu spoke again.  "The balance of the world, it was upset.  All because of the meteor.  The meteor that's slowly drawing closer.  If nothing's done before tomorrow at 12 PM, it'll crash!  Ending all life as we know it!"

Everyone except Team ACT was panicking.

"This is terrible!"  Cried Sarah.

"This is truly unthinkable!!"  Cried Shiftry.

"WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?!"  Cried Caterpie.

"There's only 1 thing TO do."  Said Xatu.

We all stopped to hear what he's going to say.

"1 of us has to confront Rayquaza in the Sky Pillar & have him destroy the meteor before tomorrow afternoon."  Said Xatu.  "And it should be the strongest one here!"

Strongest?  Who could he mean?

"Someone who went to great lengths & took huge risk to get his achievements & risked his life to save those he loved."  Xatu continued.

Great lengths?  Life threatening risks?  Who could've done that?  As I thought about it, everyone looked at me.  This made me nervous as I looked at everyone.

"...What?"  I asked.

"Donnie.  I think you're most fit for this."  Said Rosie.  "You made it to Mt. Freeze all by yourself before I came along."

"And you took out 2 of the 3 legendary birds with no help at all."  Said Sarah.

"And you went into different life-threatening environments just to find Ninetales."  Said Alakazam.  "You're the only one who can do this."

"But-"  I was about to object, but Xatu spoke up.

"Indeed.  I've watched over you ever since we met.  You did the impossible 4 times.  One of which is defeating Groudon & surviving the Magma Cavern."  He recalled.  "So we need you to go up to the Sky Tower to confront Rayqaza & request him to destroy the meteor.  But I must warn you...  Few have heard of this place & no one went there.  His home is higher than the tallest mountain.  Here's what I'll do: I'll have Alakazam help me make an item to help you get up there.  But I must warn you, I have no idea what will happen to you when you go up."

"Then just don't bother."  Said Gengar who just came back into the square.  "We'll all die anyway.  We're better off just waiting for the inevitable."

"No."  Said Shiftry.  "We still have hope."

"UGEH?!  Are you seriously bringing up defying me again?!"  Exclaimed Gengar.

"No.  My friend's children have done great things."  Said Alakazam as he looked at me.  "This little boy...  He did something even I couldn't do.  I have faith in him.  But...  I must ask you...  Donnie.  Are you up for it?  There's no way to tell what you'll find up there."

I slowly nodded & said "I understand."

"That's right!  The 2 of us will go together!"  Said Rosie.  "I've been on numerous adventures & made very special achievements together.  I'll be with my brother until the end!"

"...You 2 have certainly gained much more courage since your battle with Zapdos."  Said Tyranitar.

I nodded in agreement.

"Yes...  Considering what I went through in the past, danger will be the 1st thing that'll come to my mind when thinking about this."  I explained.

"We'll send you tomorrow."  Said Xatu.  "Get a good rest & wake up at a reasonable time.  It's going to be dangerous.  But you must not fail."

"I know."  I said.

I was still a little nervous, but that didn't matter.  I need to come out of my shell & do this.  I only have 1 shot at this.  If I fail, it'll spell doom for EVERYONE.  That in mind, I did the usual routine, I bought some items I'd need, stored some of my money & took all my necessary items out of storage.  I then trained at the dojo as much as I could to make sure I'm strong enough to go up to the Sky Tower.  Now I just needed to go to the Hill of the Ancients.  But that's tomorrow.
